The Brookwood Food Pantry is open each Thursday morning from 9:30 to 11:30am and usually serves ten client families with a combined total of approximately 40 adults and children. Each client family is referred to us by HandsOn Central Ohio, part of the HandsOn Network – the largest volunteer newtowk in the nation with more than 250 action centers in 16 countries. Approximately 400 food items are distributed to our client families each week, which is intended to provide a three-day supply of basic food items for each family member.
In addition to the congregation, Bishop Hartley High School, Bexley Education Association and Columbus Academy helped to keep our food pantry stocked. Bishop Hartley held their annual food drive during Lent which yielded 2400+ food items plus monetary donations. These food and monetary donations Bishop Hartley raised were used to help stock our food pantry throughout the year. Donations of food and money from our generous congregation saw us through the long and hot summer months. In the fall our Pantry was blessed another generous donation: 1700+ food items from a food drive coordinated by Columbus Academy. We are grateful for the support and thoughtfulness of these schools and individuals in our community.
